And today... Dorothy and Toto~

A lot of people actually figured out that I was doing a Wizard of Oz remake =} Hee hee. Was it really that obvious? =}

I also did a sketch of the Wicked Witch:
The Wicked Witch of the West

So I've been doing a LOT of research on the stories.. and it's actually quite cool! There are 14 official books by Baum.. but there are total about 40 which are considered "canon"! =\ The problem is, I wanna get a hold of the first 14... but I can't seem to get them anywhere without paying an arm and a leg. You can get each one for about 7 dollars.. but I don't wanna get 14 books at 7 dollars each!

I wish there were some "collected" volume with all of them.. since they're kids books, they tend to be larger font and wider spaced, with illustrations, spanning about 80 pages. If I could get them in normal font with normal spacing, I bet all 14 could fit in a book about 500 pages long.

Ah well.. if anyone has any ideas where I can get a collected "Oz" anthology.. or even a box set with 14 books, let me know~~ I'll be very grateful =}

Wow~ Most everyone has been very positive so far =} Actually, thanks to a helpful reader, the link to where I can find all the books online came in very handy~ I knew the 14 books written by Baum were public domain, but I didn't know they were transcribed on the net. =^.^=

So I've since downloaded them and will soon start reading them =}

Some clarification though.. I've already gotten one semi harsh e-mail telling me not to butcher the story or to use the 'evil' movie adaptation and that I should read the books before I plan to 'plagerize' the real story... =/

OK, lemme rephrase what I plan to do. Plagerism would involve publishing the story and claiming it to be my own. I'm not gonna do that. I am going to "butcher" the story, as in much that I'm not gonna be following the books. Actually, the books are merely an inspiration to what I'm doing.. as is the movie. They only serve to give me ideas on what I'll be doing, but in no way do I plan to do a rehash/retelling of the Oz chronicles with pretty pictures.

I looked at the story and from what I've gathered, I'm going to take a spin on it. I mean, already, Dorothy is an esper and her dog is a spirit dog.. and the Lion is a goth catgirl. In all regards, this is only going to be superficially Oz.. I was going to make this more like.. say.. the Seven Samurai or any other epic along those lines. Oz is merely a backdrop =}

Actually, I'm still not even sure on the name of the story.. =\ I'll figure it out though.. it's still in the planning stages =}
