I'm back to building models again. I've built models before. I started way back in middle school. I remember a buddy of mine I met in the seventh grade got me into building models. From then on I've accumulated quite a collection of models, mostly GUNDAM models. Building was the fun part. Painting was a pain. Soon I got really into it and started using putty and sand paper to fill in the seams and cracks. I have many bad models and a few good ones. But then somewhere along the line I stopped. It wasn't cause I stopped enjoying it. It was because there was a process in building these kits that I felt I had to follow. I always painted the kits as I built them because some of the parts where hard to reach and paint once they were assembled. I also used paint brushes to paint my parts which was a real pain especially on large surface parts. Once I tried using an airbrush. I never wanted to go back to the paint brush. So then I held off building models until I got an airbrush. It took a long time but I finally got an airbrush. But then I got a crappy compressor which broke down on me in less than a month. I did have a air tank but I didn't like it because it didn't offer a steady pressure of air and I always had to fill it up. So then I held off on bulding my models even more. But then recently I hung out with this other friend of mine who also builds models. But he doesn't paint them. He just enjoys building them and feels pretty content at how they look. And it made me wonder why I stopped building. I then realized even though I don't have all the tools with me to paint the models, it shouldn't stop me from building them. I can always build them and then paint them later. Besides, there are more too just building and painting them. There's also sanding and puttying to hide the seams and cracks. I can do that as well until I can afford to get a better compressor. Plus there are some parts that I can paint brush instead of airbrush. I also have another buddy of mine that has a really good air compressor and has offered me to use it. I guess through this I've learned that I shouldn't stop doing something just because I don't have everything I need to do it. I should just do what I can and take care of what I can't do once I get those things I need to do it.
