After that Courtney Love manga thing with the so-called "DJ Milky", who just happens to be founder Stu Levy's pseudonymn, to another "cine-manga" tie in with Linkin Park and some other rap star. (the name escapes me at the moment) I don't see why anyone would really WANT something like the Simple Life book. (I'm not EVEN going to call it a "cine-manga" because it is SO not)
Books like that are easy to produce, since it's basically just printing out screencaps with text, no one has to write a new story, no one has to draw new material. I don't know about anyone else, but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. *bleh*
It seems like more and more that Tokyopop is taking a garage sale approach to their library. I'm sure stuff like that does sell, but I don't know how much brand integrity it builds in the eyes of consumers. I guess they are covering their bases with "mass titles" and then their more fan-based manga titles.
Who knows...
