In a random technology article I tripped over regarding Doom 3, the writer talks about the flashlight:
Also new to the game is a flashlight -- a good idea considering "Doom 3" is one of the darkest adventures around. It's too bad, however, that you can't carry a flashlight and a weapon at the same time. You must toggle between the two when fighting the game's horrifying creatures.
Now the obvious solution is that we already have seen flashlights incorporated in modern weapons (yet Doom 3 is supposedly "futuristic") or at least it can be used while gunning in many games already.
I'm sure they meant to do this for horrific purposes. Wouldn't it be neat, tho, if it was like that... until you found some rope. Then you could tie it to your gun. But it wouldn't be perfectly aligned with your sights. And every time you fired your weapon, it would jostle around until it fell off. Then it would break--aww, that would suck. ^o^
Maybe you could just tie it to your head, but what's the fun in that? ^_~
