We're a bunch of cat-lovers here, so I wanted to share this.
It was published in the San Jose Mercury News today that last month, 931 cats had to be euthanized at the local animal shelter, because they had no homes to go to. That was in just one month. They have scores and scores of kittens and cats there right now that will be euthanized if they don't have a home soon. Especially the black cats and kittens, who seem to be the least wanted.
To everybody, regardless of where you live, please, if you want a pet cat or kitten, or even a puppy or dog, please go to your local animal shelter and adopt, not to a pet store. These are lovely animals, who need a home and someone to love them. And please, get them spayed or neutered, as that will help prevent overcrowding at the shelters. There are places all over the country where it won't cost you too much.
And if you want to be nice to me, pick out a black kitten or cat. They're not bad luck. In fact, two of the nicest cats I know are both black, and they're exceptionally loving.
Thanks everyone.
