July 7, 2002 - Sunday

Thought I try out the rant on this new server host thingy. Hasn't been much ranting going on nor has there been a comic. Rest assure, the Wang Bros. and the Nekobox staff are in the process of getting Nekobox up and running.

In other news, my car sucks. Heck, everything sucks when my car sucks. Once those wheels are taken away from me I realize that places are farther away. Sure I got legs and I gotta bike. But it's kinda hard to carry groceries on a bike. My transmission went out. Needs a new torque converter. Gonna cost a lot. Which made me wonder if I should ditch my Tracer and get a new car. I was thinking this time I should get a Honda, or at least some kind of Japanese car. I've got buddies who have Hondas and who have mistreated their Hondas but they run well even after such abuse. Unfortunately I still live with my parents which means that they're gonna be involved with any big purchases. Never really had a say when it came to buying cars. I don't know what will happen if I try to buy a house or get an apartment in the future. I've been through three cars already. The first one was a 86 Buick Somerset two door sedan. I couldn't believe I got stuck with this car. I don't know why my father choose it. I was hoping to get something more contemporary. But heck, I got wheels. Wasn't too bad until I had to have the transmission worked on. Plus later I poured more money into it for the timing belt. However I lost the Somerset in a traffic accident cause some lady in a Jeep Wrangler ran a red light. So in a sense I was happy and sad. Happy cause now that the Somerset was wrecked I could get a new car. Sad cause I did pour a lot of money into it to maintain that sucker and see it go to waste in one accident. The second car I got was an 87 Buick Centruy. I couldn't believe it. Again I really wanted something else but my father had the final say in this. And again I really couldn't complain cause I had wheels again. This sucker was a gas guzzler. Had a V6 engine. I really didn't need that power. Plus it was HUGE. Parking that thing took some practice. Again I poured money into maintaining it. Did work on the timing belt and the brakes. Then one day my sister needed to use it cause her car was in the shop. She came home with out it. The engine died and needed to be replaced. Figuring that the cost of an engine would be just as much as getting a new used car we decided to scrap the Century and get something else. I was really happy to be at the Nissan dealer that day with my folks. However I wasn't getting a Nissan that day. Instead I got a 95 Mercury Tracer. It wasn't so bad. I thought maybe this is a decent car. I was able to drive it for a good year or so. Then I needed to replace my brakes. That wasn't too bad. Then one day for some reason the engine would spontaneously shut down for no reason. I took it in to have a look at. Here's the thing. I could've done research and ask a few buddies about places I could take my car to get it serviced for a good price, but my father always told me that it was best to take it to the dealer to get it serviced. I knew it was going to cost a lot but I couldn't go against his wishes. I knew that if I went against him then there would be much lecturing not only from him but from my mother as well so it was best to do what I was told. I took in the Tracer to get it fixed. Picked it up the next day and still had the same problem. Took it in again. The problem was fixed but I spent a lot of money. After another year my engine died. Bearings were shot inside and ther was no way to repair it. I had to replace the entire engine. Thinking that it was best to buy a new car my father brought up how much money I already spent on it to fix stuff. So then we decided to get the engine replaced, er, or rather he decided. So I got the engine replaced. But not too long ago I had it serviced again for an electrical problem for the fan. Car was over heating and the relay switch that activated the fan to cool the engine wasn't working. So I had that worked on at the dealer of course. Spent more money. And just about a week ago my transmission died. I was hoping that this time my father would have some sense and just agree on getting a new car. Almost. He said if it costed over a certain amount then he would think about getting a new car. But if we could find some place that could do it for a certain amount lesser than the other amounts offered then we should get it fixed. Unfortunately we did find that place. So now my car's in the shop. I don't if it's done or not. I was hoping to pick it up last Wedensday but it wasn't ready yet. Thursday they were closed because of the 4th of July. They also were closed on Friday. So now I wait until Monday hoping that it will be ready. Actually, I just hope that somehow my Tracer would just explode. I just hope it'll get destroyed somehow. That way I can finally get a new car and hopefully have a say in what to get. But I really doubt it so I take it back. I just hope that I won't have to pour more money in this car. But I also doubt that as well.
